Designplan has provided many thousands of light fittings for cell use over past years and using the experience gained from working very closely with the contractors have given significant attention to the overall weight of the parts, the simplicity of wiring, the ease of fixing & other similar aspects to ensure maximum efficiency during the installation process & during maintenance.
Uni-Cell has been designed, developed, tested & approved in close conjunction with Ministry of Justice prison department engineers to ensure compliance with the precise and arduous demands that the NOMS (National Offender Management Service) specification requires.
It has been determined that cells can be divided into categories of use under the NOMS heading.
Designplan, at the time of going to press, is the ONLY company able to offer a product for each of the categories.

In brief the categories are:
NOMS 1: For resistance to puncturing by use of heat & implements. Category 1 requires resistance to attempts to puncture with a large or small object.
NOMS 2: For resistance to puncturing by a large object but not resistant to a small object.
NOMS 3: For resistance to puncturing by a large or small object for a prescribed time before being penetrated.

There are a number of variations of cell design thus in the event of the
standard Uni-Cell not being suitable for a particular project our design
department will be happy to work with you to create the correct
solution to your prison lighting needs.

With reference to the cost of long-term ownership considerable thought
has been exercised to ensure that all has been designed to provide a
